This is me, and I am proud of that, and I will do what I want to do and embrace life with two hands.
To run the London Marathon had been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember - when I opened that bright red email and read the words “Congratulations, You Are In” I think I might have screamed!
At the age of 55, after years of trying to get a place I was finally within touching distance of one of my dreams… the only problem was, I been taking a break from training!
My Mum was so worried when I was getting ready for the marathon, but I battled through training, and supported myself through injury – I was utterly determined to do it. And I loved every step of that big day, running around 26 mile course was something I will never forget. My medal sits on the kitchen windowsill, and I look at it every day and smile – it’s a great reminder of what I can do.
I like to keep challenging myself.
My Mum thinks I’m mad. But as I get older I just don’t care what people think.
I’m working through my bucket list: I open water swim (it can be very cold in January!), I appeared on Ken Bruce’s Pop Master (and it wasn’t a disaster!), and then on my 56th birthday I did a zipwire, it felt like I was flying! But I won’t stop there. There is so much more I want to do and experience. I’d love to wing walk one day… maybe I’ll do that for my 60th!
"I absolutely love the collagen supplement and I love the Mango & Mandarin neat, straight out of the tube...I think it tastes lovely. I like to take it before I exercise as I'm convinced it helps me through a tough circuit class. I definitely notice a glow to my skin when I've had my shot - particularly the next morning."
